Our Values

Recreate Responsibly

We strive to emphasize responsible recreation. What we mean by that is following Leave No Trace principles such as:

  1. Plan ahead and be prepared.
  2. Travel and camp on durable surfaces.
  3. Dispose of waste properly.
  4. Leave what you find.
  5. Minimize campfire impacts.
  6. Respect wildlife.
  7. Be considerate of other visitors.

Learn more about these principles and how to follow them on the Leave No Trace website.

Educate

We want those who are new to the area or new to hiking to be prepared in their outings. That’s why we have Leave No Trace principles at the bottom of each hiking page and put together articles such as Know what to pack in your backpack, always carry an emergency kit, be bear aware, and continue to build out more informational resources on our website.

Give Back

Our website provides a free resource for outdoor recreation in Southwest Montana. We are an independent recreation resource – meaning we don’t get paid to provide our information.

Additionally, we like to help out where we can. If you are a non-profit organization or recreation group that supports public land usage (trail maintenance, promoting educational recreation courses and good stewardship, etc.), reach out to us through our contact information.

No Geotagging

We based our mission and website on improving online trail accessibility – however, we want people to choose hikes within their ability. When selecting a hike, be honest with yourself, and know what your fitness level can handle. We don’t want our followers to view an image and decide to hike to that location without researching it more in-depth. Therefore, we do not geotag or share locations on social media.
