A mid-August backpacking trip presented passing thunderstorms, wild berries, mountain goats, fishing, and a few unexpected discoveries along the way. Between the storms, we explored our surroundings and came across signs of the many stories these mountains hold.
The Best Adventures Aren’t Always Somewhere New
We returned to a familiar alpine lake with a few new objectives: climb the mountain behind the lake, search for rumored golden trout, and explore an old airplane wreckage that was under snow on previous visits. Instead, an afternoon thunderstorm led to an unexpected discovery and ended up being a memorable experience.
