Trail Description

Delmoe Lake in the Boulder Mountains is a quick getaway into nature for Butte locals. The lake is nestled up high with great views of the surrounding rolling hills that make up the Boulder Mountains. Although there isn’t a true trail around the lake, we wanted to add it to our site to present another outdoor option.

When we hiked this in early September, the water was low and we were able to cross the inlet and turn it into a loop. Keep in mind the lake will be higher in the Spring and early Summer months and crossing the inlet may not be possible. The southeast portion has a double-track road that follows much of the northern shore of the lake. The beginning of this double-track can be fairly steep at times and does not feel particularly ‘trail’ like. Delmoe is a great hang-out spot, with the option to get in some easy miles.
