Trail Description
NOTE: Technically the trailhead is .5 miles from the lake – however, the road to it is not passable by cars. You would need a robust 4×4.
The Sailor Lake trail in the Tobacco Root Mountains starts out ascending a rather steep road. This road does not offer too many views except seeing the surrounding mountains poking through the trees. Though, once you get to the actual trailhead – it is only a .5 mile hike up to the lake. Features a gorgeous view of the Tobacco Root Mountains. Plenty of fish to watch dart around in the lake. Beautiful place to spend the day. Continue on to Brannan Lakes if you want to add on a little more mileage with outstanding views.
